Indore: The Indore cyber cell has issued a notice to a Chinese national as part of an investigation into an alleged financial fraud. Two Delhi-based youths have been arrested in the case.
The Chinese national, identified as Charlie Peng alias Lou Sang, is a director of a Gurgaon-based private firm with which the accused duo — Jatin Singh, 28, and Indraneel Basu, 27 — had allegedly signed an agreement for registering 15 fake companies, police say.
Jatin, a company secretary, and his friend Indraneel were arrested by Indore cyber cell from Delhi for allegedly duping an Indorean of Rs 22.5 lakh through a Gurgaon-based firm called Sunahara Bird India Pvt Ltd, Indore cyber cell SP Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday. The SP said the youths had signed an agreement with Charlie Peng alias Lou Sang, one of the directors of Sunahara Bird, for registering fake companies in 2020. “The firm’s employees were found to be involved in duping prospective clients on the pretext of giving them high returns through online tasking work. On the basis of this, a notice has been issued to Charlie Peng with instructions to appear before Indore police and submit his reply,” Singh told TOI.
Peng was arrested in 2018 in Delhi in a case of alleged cheating and fake passport, police said.
